Next, you will visit the Gonio Fortress, 15 minutes from Batumi, a Roman fortress on the Black Sea, mentioned by Pliny the Elder. It is said that the tomb of Apostle Saint Matthias is inside the fortress.
Then, you will have lunch at a beachfront restaurant. Then you will visit the Batumi Botanical Garden, created by Alexis Krasnov, who wanted to create a Russian Riviera here.
You will end your Georgia trip by going to Kutaisi.

Transfer to Rabati Castle. You will visit this military structure built in the 13th century. The fortress had been destroyed several times, often during sieges, as a result of which it had absorbed traces of different cultures and religions. In 2012, a major restoration took place, after which the Rabati Fortress in Akhaltsikhe transformed into a city within a city. View of the Caucasus Mountains!

You will depart to visit the cave city of Vardzia. In 1185, Queen Tamar ascended the throne of Georgia. To protect against Mongol invasions, she had the city of Vardzia carved into the cliffside.
Vardzia is a complex of caves and historical buildings. It is considered one of the architectural gems of the country. The visit to Vardzia will allow you to discover the numerous caves carved into the cliff, as well as the various historical buildings that include monasteries, churches, and halls.
You will have lunch in Vardzia by the Mtqvari River (also known as Koura) before heading back to Kutaisi.
